Are You Ready To Start A New Career?

Have you gone the college route, only to find that sitting in classes and listening to lectures is just not for you? Perhaps you have graduated from high school and you have no intention at all of ever stepping into a college or university classroom. However, you may have done some pondering regarding your future. You may be thinking that, while you may not be a big fan of regular schooling, you still need a way to support yourself and maybe even a family. From being an entrepreneur to going to a trade school to be an electrician, here are some ideas that might help you to decide what you will do in the future.

Do A Personal Assessment - Since you've decided already that you don't want to further your education in a university or college setting, think of other ways you can form a career for yourself. Do you want to be your own boss? For example, if you are passionate about cars, perhaps you could start a car detailing business. If that's the case, think about working for somebody else to learn the tricks of the trade before you start your own business. Are you a gifted artist? Do you think there is a market for the things you create? Consider taking your work to different art galleries and gift shops to see if those places will consider you placing your art work with them. Consider, too, how you will support yourself while your business is taking off.

Go To Trade School - You may have decided that you want a career that would begin in a trade school. For example, you may be interested in electrical training courses. Think about talking to people who are already working in that field to see how they enjoy their work, to find out what they did to advance in their chosen field as electricians. If you do decide to go to electrician trade school, be prepared to still sit in some classrooms where you will be taught by electricians who have the skills and the knowledge to prepare you for your future career. You will more than likely also be trained on the job, working with seasoned electricians before you go out on your own. Find out if you can go to electrician trade school during hours that you don't go to your present job. It may be that you can work part-time and go to electrician trade school until you receive the certification you need to go to work in your new field.
